H7466 Scottish Indian Style Candy Bowl 1900 Glasgow 1900

An antique sterling bon bon dish chased in the Indian style and hallmarked Glasgow 1900. Maker George Edward and Sons. Very fine chasing.

Diameter 4"

Height 2 3/4".

Weight 4.4 troy ounces.

Why Indian design on a Scottish piece of silver:

The Scots had a fascination with India and it shows up in Scottish design. One would never imagine that this bowl was not Indian. The work is quite superb and there is no hint of Western influence.
