A fine quality antique silver French snuff box inlaid with gold in excellent condition. The edge of the box is also gold. The interior has a later 1955 inscription. The decoration is done in gold inlay with a vase of flowers at the center and floral swags. This inlay extends to all four sides and includes a tiny engraved coronet and crest in a cartouche on the lid. Each of the four corners has a soldier holding a shield. The box has a smooth finish and feels heavy and good in the hand. Length 3 3/8" by 1 5/8" by 5/8" thick. Marked with a Minerva head and maker's mark on the lip of the hinged lid. Weight 3.9 troy oz.
