whiting sterling bowl with seaweed and shells

RH4281 Whiting Sterling Shell Bowl Circa 1880

A large antique sterling silver fruit bowl with a ruffled edge decorated with hand chased shells. The shells are chased with incredible detail and the condition is close to pristine. The original gilding on the seaweed between the shells is perfect and the bowl is gilded inside. Circa 1880. The shells are a variety of different examples complete with all the natural imperfections hand chased into the shell detail. The finest Whiting craftsmanship.
