Museum Quality Three Piece Shiebler Suite
A large museum quality important American silver hammered naturalistic leaf bowl by Shiebler with an applied handle on the side. The bowl has an applied canopy made up of cast and applied vines and leaves from which patinated copper cherries and other silver fruit are suspended. The canopy is surmounted by a large applied realistic spider. The entire bowl is lightly gold washed and satin finished on the outside. Marked with the Shiebler S with wings and sterling as well as a French touch mark on the rim indicating that it was sold in France. Length 14" across the handle; height 8 1/2"; weight 57.75 troy ounces. Two leaves have applied bugs.
Accompanying this large bowl is a sugar basket in the form of a large gold washed leaf with a large spider at the top. Length 4 1/2"; weight 3.8 troy ounces; height 3". The creamer is similarly made up of a large hammered leaf with a circular handle surmounted by a large spider.
