Rare and Important Gorham Special Order Tankard

A rare sterling silver tankard by the Gorham Company with hand carved body. The base and collar are cast sterling as is the handle. The interior is lined with sterling. Excellent condition. Circa 1890. Height: 15" The lid hinges back. We have a report from the Gorham Archives in Providence which indicates that the factory price was $375.00. The piece could have sold for somewhere in the region of $750.00 which would make it a very high prices article.The casting is of the finest quality as is the carving on the body. There are no cracks.
