RH4550 Elkington Carafe Set in Original Case

A fine English Victorian sterling silver carafe and two matching goblets in the original fitted case by Elkington. Marked with Frederick Elkington's mark and dated London 1874. There is a satin finish and a gold wash on all three pieces. The handle of the carafe is naturalistic and in the form of a grape vine. Snaking around the body of the carafe is a cast grape vine with perfect detail.

Pair goblets crested and monogrammed. English sterling silver with a satin finished gold washed surface.

A C Dicker of St John's College which is part of Cambridge University in England, won the rowing regatta known as the Diamond Challenge Sculls on the River Thames in 1873, 1874 and 1875. This set was presented to him for his win in 1875. The box is quite good condition. with gold monograms and crests on the lid. The whole set was once sealed up and mailed
