Coronation Chair 1937
An original coronation chair used at the coronation of King George VI on the 12th May 1937 in Westminster Abbey. The chair is in original condition with the royal crown and GviR on dark green velvet. Made of solid oak. Queen Mary (mother of the king) sat on an identical chair in the gallery. The congregation took their chairs home. Upon the death of Princess Margaret the identical chair used by Queen Mary was sold at Christies in London by the Snowdon children.
