H4968 Whiting Sterling Horse Trophy

An antique sterling silver bowl, circa 1885 by Whiting with applied cast horse shoes on the outside rim of the bowl together with an acid etched scene of two horses with mounted jockeys in fine detail. On the reverse is a pristine deep cut acid etched inscription that reads "P.W. & F.F. G.A. Challenge Cup, 1 1/2 miles on the flat, won by... (left blank.) Three large hairy paw feet make up the supporting pedestal. Weight 22.65 troy oz. Diameter 7 1/2"; height 6"
