H5063 Whiting Antique Sterling Tankard

An American covered antique sterling silver tankard dated 1887. Perfect patina and condition. The decoration includes intricately acid etched ferns and birds. Two large etched birds in full flight at the top on one side of the tankard. The lid hinges back to open. The hand engraved inscription is original and refers to the presentation as a horse trophy in November 1887. Manufactured by the Whiting Company. Height: 6 1/2". Weight: 18.9 troy ounces.
