H0002 American Sterling Tray Peter Krider

A hexagonal sterling silver tray by Peter Krider of Philadelphia with cornucopia filled with fruit, baskets of flowers and motto reading: “At Spes Infracta, Via Tuta Virtus,” which means “But hope is unbroken, virtue is a safe path.” The coat of arms and monogram correspond with that of the Dick family of Philadelphia and originally Edinburgh, Scotland. Length 17 1/2" by 12 3/4"; weight 49.05 troy oz. Good condition.
