H4892 Caldwell Antique Sterling Silver Covered Vegetable Tureen

A hand chased sterling silver antique tureen with cast floral finial retailed by J E Caldwell of Philadelphia. Circa 1880. The chasing depicts acanthus leaves and flowers with gadrooning on the edge of the base and is in pristine condition. There are four ornately cast applied feet. Original silver plated liner in excellent condition. Monogrammed and inscribed under the base with the date 1881. Weight 44.2 troy ounces. 8" square. Height: 6" at the finial.
