A rare Whiting sterling silver and applied copper bowl with faceted chasing in the background and an applied three dimensional bird on a branch with copper berries. On the opposite side there is an applied wild flower with engraved background. The third scene depicts a caterpillar on a branch with copper berries. Weight 15.75 troy ounces; diameter 8"; height 2 1/8". Original gold washed interior finish. Circa 1880 in the Japanese taste.
