Whiting textured sterling pitcher with dragonfly and iris

Rare and Important Antique Whiting Pitcher

A rare sterling silver antique water pitcher by Whiting circa 1880 with a large dragon fly applied to one side and irises to the other side. The textured surface is achieved with acid etching and the condition of this is pristine with the applied details in bold contrast to the mottled surface. The handle is curved and quite obviously the design of Charles Osborne who worked for Whiting and for Tiffany at different times in the 1880s
