Rare Gorham Naturalistic Apple Tea Caddy

Very unusual Gorham sterling silver apple with hinged lid and textured surface. Applied leaf decoration. The lid fits together with the base with a jagged irregular seam as if the apple had been peeled open. Dated 1883 with the Gorham date letter P. The clasp is a bug that rotates to secure a small bar on the top lid. Height: 3". Weight: 7.45 troy ounces.
