J E Caldwell Hand Chased Repousse Hot Water Urn

A Victorian sterling silver hand chased hot water urn retailed by J E Caldwell and certain to be the work of the Philadelphia silversmith Peter Krider. The base unbolts from the top with a bayonet fitting. The handles, legs of the base and the body are all hand chased with flowers and leaves. Applied silver vines are wrapped around the ornate handles for three dimensional effect. Original burner, fully marked and in excellent condition as is the entire urn. Circa 1870
